Many people when they look in the mirror often times see the aging process take over. Some may see the loss of their natural skin tone, uneven texture or just fine lines and wrinkles. There are numerous treatments designed to restore the youthful glow and appearance of the skin. Facial needling is the latest skin therapy for minimally invasive skin rejuvenation.
What is Facial Needling?
Facial Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that uses thin needles to create superficial microchannels in the skin, prompting a healing process that corrects the inconsistencies in the skin by stimulating collagen. Microneedling is used to treat many different skin issues. Fine lines and wrinkles and skin laxity issues due to aging or uneven tone and acne scarring are the most evident skin issues clients tend to get micro needling for.
How is Facial Needling Performed?
There are many different methods and devices for facial needling. The Environ facial needling device is a roller and is applied to the skin in a series of passes creating that injury to the skin. The other method utilized is the DermaPen device. The DermaPen device has spring-loaded disposable needle tips that use an automated, vibrating stamp-like motion that aids in enhancing results. Once the needling procedure is performed serums that are high in vitamins and antioxidants are introduced to the skin. The product will be more effective because it will penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin providing maximized results. Depending on the depth of the needling required the surgeon or the medical aesthetician will perform the treatment.
Am I a Candidate for Facial Needling?
Because facial needling is minimally invasive, most clients are candidates for the procedure. A thorough consultation will be performed to ensure your skin is in overall good condition to receive the procedure. Although needling is effective in treating mild scarring and signs of aging it is important to have realistic expectations. Those who have severe acne scarring or deeper lines and wrinkles may not be a great candidate for this procedure.
Recovery from Facial Needling
After the facial needling procedure, you will notice a slight reddening of the skin and possibly some swelling. You will look as though you have a moderate to severe sunburn. Your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. All of the indications are normal and will subside within a few days. If you opt for the more aggressive needling to can take upwards of a week to two weeks for the skin to be fully recovered. You will be given a post-procedure skincare protocol by the surgeon or aesthetician following the procedure.
