What Makes the Palomar Icon™ MaxR Handpiece Unique?
Cynosure Icon™ MaxR has been designed for precision hair removal, targeting specific structures of the hair follicle that control hair growth. Only hairs in the growth (or anagen) cycle are affected by the treatment.
What truly makes the MaxR unique is that it effectively reduces darker, thicker hair that other laser hair removal treatments do not.
The Icon™ Laser and the Skintel Melanin Reader
The Palomar Icon™ laser is equipped with a Skintel Melanin Reader. This device reads the levels of melanin in your skin, allowing for accurate skin tone readings to create “custom to you” treatments.
Laser hair removal is not effective against blonde or grey hair. Also, please be aware that any changes in hormones may trigger additional hair growth even after treatment is completed.

What should you expect in Icon™ MaxR laser hair removal sessions?
Preparation
Prior to treatment, the hair in the areas to be treated will be trimmed to a few millimeters above the surface of your skin. You and your attending technician will both need to wear eye protection.
The Treatment
The Cynosure Icon™ MaxR is fast and accurate. Each laser pulse lasts less than one second, treating only the selected area, leaving the surrounding skin untouched.
Post-Treatment
After your treatment, anti-inflammatory creams or ice packs may be applied to ease temporary soreness or irritation following the treatment.
Most patients can expect to see results within a few weeks, with improvements continuing as treatments progress.

Time ranges for treatment vary depending on the size and location of the treatment area. Limited areas, such as the upper lip, are treatable in just minutes. Larger areas, such as the back or legs, might take up to one hour or longer.

For most people, the average recommended number of treatments is 6 or more for best results. We will make a recommendation based on the thickness of hair, your skin tone, the specific area being treated, and the size of the area.

For the best results, sun exposure should be limited before and after laser treatments. Untanned skin that has been shielded from the sun for a few weeks will have the best results.
With any hair reduction treatments, maintenance is always required. Patients may need to perform annual or bi-annual touch up treatments for long-lasting results.
