Harsh Northbrook Winter Weather & Your Face: Getting a Chemical Peel

Posted in Med Spa

chemical peelIf you have lived in Northbrook during the winter, you know that the weather can be extreme. The cold winds can whip against your skin and cause it to become dry, red, and chapped. Did you know that continual exposure to the harsh winter could damage your skin? North Shore Aesthetics can assist you with our youth-preserving chemical peels. While a chemical peel sounds a bit unnerving, the process is easy and stress-free.

The Initial Consultation

Before your chemical peel, you will want to come into our office and meet with our staff. We will ask you questions related to your skin, medical history, and your aesthetic goals. We are happy to show you our skin care options and match you with the perfect procedure to get the results you want. Depending on your particular situation, you may be given medication or a skin care regimen to follow prior to your peel.

The Chemical Peel Process

From the moment you step inside our office, we will guide you through the entire process from start to finish. Our professionals will prep your skin for the peel by thoroughly cleaning it and then apply the peel solution. A thin layer of the peel solution will be applied. You may feel a slight burning or stinging sensation for a few minutes after the application. Afterward, your skin may be a bit more sensitive to the touch.

After Your Chemical Peel

After the procedure, the healing time will vary depending on the type of peel you have received. Some patients feel like they have received a sunburn while others have some very mild peeling or flaking, like dry skin. After your recovery, the peel will reveal glowing younger-looking skin. After your peel, you should limit sun exposure, as your new skin will be highly sensitive to UV rays.
